About Me

Christian Schweizer

I have grown up in a Buddhist environment and was in contact with India, Thailand, and Japan already as a teenager. During my studying art history, I started reading intensely about yoga, meditation, and Buddhist philosophy. But I wanted to really experience it, to live and learn it with my own body:

On a three-month trip to India in 2013, I learnt the practice of Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore where I returned the following year to deepen my practice under Ramesh Shetty. Since then, I teach groups and individuals in the classical style. My specific interest is on yoga cikitsa, the holistic-therapeutic aspect of the physical postures.

Thai Massage (Nuad Thai) in the traditional Central-Thailand style of Wat Pho, Bangkok, I learnt under Christian Bäumle as a continuation of the hands-on adjustments in yoga and as an additional treatment method to strengthen the natural healing capacity and to balance mind and body.

Since March 2019, I practice zazen every day at the Zen Dojo Zurich Muijoji, where I was ordained as a monk. Moreover, I explore the far corners of the world, eat and cook with a passion.
